Kids are incredible creatures. They say what they think. They ask questions. They’re creative. And they really do say the darndest things.

If I had my choice I would fill up my mastermind and think tank with folks between the ages of 6 and 10. I think that we could create the cure for cancer and make world peace all in one afternoon setting. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t be interested since cartoons aren’t involved.

But… You can ask them questions. And you better listen closely. Take their responses seriously. I’ve come to the following realization,

There are a million ways to make a Million Dollars [do a quick google search, you’ll find plenty]

And I think kids are swimming in these ideas. They’re drowning in them. Listen. Toss them a life preserver.

If nothing else, comedians could use their children (and I commonly see them do it) in their stand up routines.

As an example, let me give you 4 that I heard from my business partner’s 6 year old son in the past 2 weeks – literally.

**At church after communion, referring to a tiny piece of bread: “Man, I want another one of those.” Totally correct. Small piece of bread dipped in symbolic wine. I did too, I hadn’t had breakfast. Apparently he hadn’t either.

**Referring to his upcoming birthday: “Do you think the Gangam style guy can come?” Totally a good idea [or “Tot’s for Sure” as the cool kids are saying]. He would definitely be a great party entertainer. Couldn’t agree more.

**To his mother: “If we sell your car then we can pay for a trip to Disney World” Smart little bugger…

**Again, to his mom:  “How do you go to heaven when your body is in the ground?” I always wondered the same thing! As a child, not afraid to ask. As an adult, laughable.

If you want one more, this kid’s got the right idea!

So listen up. To their creativity and passion. You might just carry over something into your work life or your small business. You also might just stay younger longer if you take the time.

We should learn from children. They’re full of uninhibited faith, thoughts, and intelligence. They’re not afraid to say what they feel. They’re not scared to ask questions. They’re not confined to four walls.

They don’t hesitate to Destroy the Box.
