Here’s how it works…

With cost per action affiliate marketing, the vendor/advertisers pays you (the affiliate) for sending prospects their way to perform an agreed ‘action’.

When a prospect passes through your link and performs that action – which could be completing a form, getting a quote or signing up for a free trial – you get paid a ‘commission’.

Let me give you an example of how easy it is to make money today using this method…

Anyone can do this.

In fact, if you’ve never made a commission before, I strongly suggest you do this to prove my point. It will be the easiest money you ever make…

Sign up to a cost per action affiliate network…

Promote a ‘competition’ offer that pays you when you send them a competition ‘entry’ to win something (Let’s say a holiday)…

This is a cost per action affiliate offer. The ‘action’ or ‘entry’ will be as simple as entering an email address and some details, typically. It will be free…

Then email one of your friends with the link and say sign up to this competition. Say you’ve signed up already and will take them if you win, but you want to double the chance of winning…

When they enter after clicking your affiliate link, you get paid.

BOOM, your first commission, it was that simple.

And how long did it take you? 10 minutes? 15 minutes at a push?

This is just an example to prove it works. Obviously I do not recommend you keep sending affiliate offers to your friends!

Step 1: Identify a profitable audience

The first step to cost per action affiliate success is finding a profitable audience. This is essentially ensuring that you have a market to promote to, i.e. you’re not targeted a dead niche.

In order to do this, you first need to sign up to some CPA affiliate networks and see what offers they have for you to promote.

A CPA Network is the platform that connects advertisers and affiliates. You obtain your affiliate link from the Network and they ensure you get paid. Before doing any affiliate marketing, you should ensure you select a network is legit and pay affiliates by looking at their reviews.

Once you’ve signed up to a legit network, you want to see what type of offers they have. For each offer that sparks your interest, you’re going to want to look at how complicated the ‘action’ is that requires you to get paid and the offer’s EPC (earning per click).

Obviously, you’re going to want the ‘action’ to be simple to execute. If the prospect has to jump through hoops to perform the action, it’s going to be hard to convert them. The EPC will give you an idea of how profitable the offer can be.

Let’s say you find a ‘competition’ offer to win a holiday to Las Vegas that sparks your interest. Now you need to get an idea for how many people are interested in this niche.

How can you do that…

  1. You can look at Google keyword planned to see how many searches are being performed related to Las Vegas competitions…

  2. You can look at Las Vegas groups on Facebook (how many groups are there, do they have many members)…

  3. You can look at how many related posts there are on Instagram and how they have been received…

This is the step that requires some serious marketing knowledge and know how. It’s going to take some time but like I’ve said, this isn’t a get rich quick scheme. It’s optional, but I’d recommend a research tool like Thriive if you’re just starting out as it will identify the profitable niches in minutes without any technical expertise required.

Now let’s jump into step 2…

Step 2: Create a ‘hub page’ for your offer(s)

Your hub page is the ‘bridge’ between you and the offer. It’s essentially the introductory page where you reinforce the value of the offer prior to sending prospects through your affiliate link. A good hub page is vitally important for ensuring the best conversion rates…

As an affiliate, you should be looking to send prospects to your hub page – where you reinforce the value of the offer – and then onwards through your affiliate link. You can even capture leads on your hub page should you want to (optional)…

In order to create a good hub page, you will need web hosting and possibly the expertise of a web developer (or some time to learn) if you don’t know how to create these pages yourself. Alternatively, tools like Thriive will create hub pages for you automatically if you want to get things done as quickly as possible…

In order to ensure your hub page has the best conversion rates, you will be required to do split testing. Of course, the fastest way to do this is with Pay Per Click (PPC) or other paid methods. However, this is something I wouldn’t recommend jumping straight into if you are a newbie.

Plus it’s possible to drive targeted traffic for free…

Remember those Facebook groups I mentioned earlier (when researching your audience) well, you can post on groups like that (plus other social sites) for free, driving targeted visitors to your hub page.
